I bought this entirely by accident as I thought it was an adult's book (if you haven't already read them adults, the 'Shadow of the Wind' books are an absolute joy to behold).
I started to read it thinking that it MIGHT be suitable for our 11+ pupils but continued to read it because it is a fantastic read: gripping, thrilling, terrifying.. It's a love story (without the mushy stuff) and a truly page-turning horror book all at once. Set on an island in the spooky mansion of an eccentric toy-maker, a mystery comes to life that threatens all of the characters in this twisty, surprising, well-crafted tale. I cannot recommend it highly enough.
