11+ exam preparation

If your child is very able and you wish to apply for a place at one of the local grammar schools- North Halifax Grammar School, Bradford Grammar School, Woodhouse Grove School, Hipperholme Grammar School, Skipton Girls’ Grammar School or Ermysted’s - they would benefit from tuition. The exams are quite unlike anything that most children will have encountered previously, and a little bit of preparation can go a long way in helping them feel confident enough to ace their exams. I teach both verbal and non-verbal reasoning, Maths and English. I also teach exam technique, including how to complete the tests within a very restricted time frame.

11+ preparation lessons happen in a small group setting (maximum 1:4) in my purpose- built classroom.

Unlike other tutor schools, we stay open during the school holidays. We make the most of the extra time for additional lessons and test revision. Summer-holiday 2 hour small-group lessons include:

  • NVR; speed and accuracy
  • Mathsterclasses; including ratio, algebra, geometry and data handling
  • English: problem punctuation and gruesome grammar
  • VR; key-skills and speed
