Year 5, week beginning 30.09.24. Learning the names of the 2D shapes.

Hello everyone and welcome to your new learn by heart target: 'Knowing the names of 2D shapes.' You might assume that you know this, you probably learned the names of these shapes in Year 1 and Year 3, however, could you spot a pentagon? Hexagon? Heptagon? Decagon? Really... are you sure?

Do you know the difference between a regular and irregular 2D shape?  A regular shape is the posh one, where all the lines are the same length and the angles inside are the same. These are the shapes that are on posters in your classrooms. Irregular shapes might have different length sides and different sized angles. You need to be able to spot an irregular and regular 2D shape.

Even if you're super confident, please still spend a little time refreshing yourself with shape. You will be needing the names sooner than you think!
