Knowing a few equivalent fractions, decimals and percentages saves time in tests. Knowing that 1/4 is the same as 0.25 is the same as 25% also enables a child to choose to calculate their answers using whatever they are most comfortable with- for example, 'find 0.25 of £40,' might seem tricky but if you know that 0.25 is really just a quarter, suddenly the question is much more manageable. Being able to move rapidly between fractions, decimals and percentages, choosing whichever works best for you, shows a high level of abilily.
This week, the children need to learn the following facts off by heart:
1/2= 0.5= 50%
1/4= 0.25= 25%
1/10= 0.10= 10%
1/3= 0.33= 33.3%
1/5= 0.20= 20%
1/8= 0.125= 12.5%
3/4= 0.75= 75%
