Circles. Week beginning 25.04.24

This week, we are learning the vocabulary associated with circles. The children need to know the following terms and their meanings:

Circumference: the distance around the outside of a circle

Diameter: the distance from one side of a circle to the other

Radius: the distance half way across a circle

Excellent web resources are:

Children don't need to be able to calculate the circumference of a circle. Usually, they are given the radius and asked to calculate the diameter or vice versa. If you are keen to play with 'pi' and have a go at calcuating the circumference, look at this website- https://www.mrsburkhartsclass.com/circles-games- which has lots of different games and explanations on how to use pi.
