The language of probability. Week beginning 12/05/2022

We make decisions about pobability all the time when we consider how likely things are to - or not to- happen. For example, if you're at the seaside on a grabber machine, you probably think your chances of actually getting a soft toy are unlikely. This might affect whether you choose to play the game or not. At school, you're less likely to win a whole class game of multiplication bingo than you are to win if you were just playing against me (we all know that I never win)!

The key words that you need to know are: certain- likely- even chance- unlikely- impossible

Consider the following:

1) Kelly will be 21 tomorrow - impossible (unfortunately)

2) The sun will rise tomorrow - certain

3) Tomorrow is a school day- likely

4) Your Mum will buy you a new toy for working so hard.... this really depends on how hard you're woring!

This game is brilliant for helping you to use the vocabulary correctly-
