Knowing, by heart, the basic fraction, decimal and percentage equivalences makes a huge difference in maths. Esentially, children can answer questions quickly- this might be expressing a remainder as a fraction or decimal or simply ordering a mixed bag of decimals, fractions and percentages. Once a child can move from fraction to decimal to percentage with ease, their problem solving abilities increase as does their confidence.
Basic equivalences:
1/4 = 0.25= 25%
1/2= 0.50= 50%
1/3= 0.33 (rec)= 33%
1/5= 0.20= 20%
1/8= 0.125 = 12.5%
